The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded meal program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks served to children 18 and younger and persons with disabilities who are emergency shelter residents.
Emergency shelters that participate in CACFP provide residential and food services to children experiencing homelessness.To be eligible, the shelter must be a nonprofit institution or a temporary residential site Householded by a nonprofit agency.
