  • Welcome to Census for LEAs

Welcome to Census for LEAs

We recently received information from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) regarding Arizona’s 2020 Census Data that would be used by ED for the calculation of FY23 (2022-2023 school year) Title I, Part A allocations. Please note that these data impact Census LEA's (non-Charter LEA entities).

Attached here from ED are:

  • The memorandum concerning the 2020 ages 5 to 17 local educational agency (LEA) poverty and population estimates that the U.S.Census Bureau recently published;
  • A spreadsheet comparing the with the 2020 Census Data by State with the 2019 data, and
  • A spreadsheet containing the 2020 Census Data for the LEA's in the State. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) plans to use these data to calculate fiscal year (FY) 2022 (school year 2022-2023) Title I, Part A allocations.

This data is also available on the Census Bureau’s website at https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/saipe.html

ED is providing this opportunity for you to review these data, verify the accuracy of the boundary survey data on which these data are based, and to voice questions or concerns you may have regarding your LEA’s data. Should you have questions or concerns regarding your data, please contact the Census Bureau directly at the telephone number or e-mail address shown in the memo before March 16, 2022.

Teacher Evaluation Affirmations Fri, Dec 16 2022

During the legislative session of 2022 the legislature repealed A.R.S. 15-952 as part of the K-12 Budget Reconciliation Bill that was signed by Governor Doug Ducey.  Due to this repeal an LEA will no longer be required to submit an Affirmation of Teacher Evaluations by February 1st to the Educator and School Excellence Unit.  The repeal of 15-592 though does not remove the evaluation requirements of the LEA for certificated teachers as required under A.R.S. 15-537.
