The Arizona Department of Education wants to help teachers "Get SET for STEM!" This program offers Arizona educators $2,000 per year. An applicant may apply for multiple years to pursue coursework or programs that will:

 

1. Prepare with adding coursework to gain content knowledge to support a STEM area (calculus, physics, biology, etc.) or a CTE certificate, and

2. expand STEM teaching and learning & skills.

Who's eligible?

Arizona-certified teachers with a current contract at an Arizona public school are eligible to apply. This includes any educator who holds a certificate, including secondary teachers, K-8 teachers, SPED educators, etc. who are interested in building their STEM education skills. Coursework must be taken through a regionally or nationally accredited public or private post-secondary education institutions in Arizona, including community colleges and universities.

What’s an Applicant's  Commitment?

Scholarship recipients agree to teach in Arizona public schools for three years after completing their coursework or program.

How often are scholarships awarded?

Applications are accepted year-round, and scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis. Applications must be submitted prior to enrollment in a program or coursework. Funding is awarded directly to the recipient after submitting paperwork that provides proof of educator enrollment and payment for course or program.

 

Coursework should help current Arizona educators prepare for content exams to prepare to meet the requirements of a STEM-approved area or meet the requirements for a CTE certification. Scholarships can be used towards a college level course.

Anatomy and Physiology

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Human Body
  • Neuroanatomy

Biology

  • Introduction to Life Sciences
  • Molecular Biology

Botany

  • Forensic Botany
  • Botany of the Sahara Desert

Chemistry

  • Biochemistry Theory
  • Introductory Chemistry

Computer Science

  • Intro to Computer Science
  • Basic Coding

Earth Science

  • The Changing Earth
  • History of the Earth
  • Intro to Geology

Education Technology

  • Technology for Educators
  • Multimedia Strategies and Methods

Engineering

  • Clinical Engineering
  • Engineering Mechanics

Environmental Science

  • Environmental Education
  • Aquatic Issues in the World

Industrial Technology

  • Fundamentals of Business Systems Development
  • Data Programming Languages

Mathematics

  • Introduction to Calculus
  • Probability and Statistics
  • Applied Statistics

Middle Grades Mathematics

  • Algebra Basic Concepts
  • Discrete Mathematics

Physics

  • Astrophysics I
  • Introduction to Physics

Physical Science

  • Animal Life in the Desert

Coursework should help current Arizona educators prepare for content exams and/or CTE certification or credentials for their teaching certificate. Scholarships can be used towards a college level course.

  • CTE Agriculture
  • CTE Business and Marketing
  • CTE Education and Training
  • CTE Family and Consumer Sciences
  • CTE Health Careers
  • CTE Industrial and Emerging Technologies
