Introduction, Procedures and Timeline

The Excellence in Civic Engagement Program (ECEP) was created to recognize and support the important role Arizona schools play in ensuring our students are informed and engaged citizens. Thank you for your interest in applying to the Excellence in Civic Engagement Program for the 2017-2018 school year. Application Cycle: This is Year 2 of the application cycle. All schools are required to complete the full application on year 3 regardless of the previous year’s level of recognition.(*Note: We recommend you type your answers in a word document prior to filling out this application.)

Dates and Times

 The Excellence in Civic Engagement Committee will use the appropriate rubric to review and score each school’s application according to the depth and breadth of their understanding and implementation of the six proven practices in civic learning demonstrated on their application. There will be separate rubrics used for elementary, high school, applicants that were previously recognized as Schools of Distinction or Excellence, and alternative schools.
