From March through September 2021, the Arizona Department of Education will be hosting meetings to solicit feedback from the field on specific aspects of our ESSA State Plan proposed revisions. We hope you will attend our meetings and look forward to receiving your feedback!
March & April: Stakeholder Feedback
ADE will host a series of webinars on proposed revisions to our ESSA State Plan. Stakeholders are invited to attend the webinars or watch the recordings and submit feedback.
In 2015 the U.S. Department of Education granted Arizona’s application for relief from some of the most burdensome federal education regulations. The approved Flexibility Request meant that Arizona would no longer subject to many onerous elements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
ESSA is the federal law that allows the U.S. Government to support both national and local education goals with grants and other resources. Passed in 2015, it replaced No Child Left Behind (NCLB). and became the latest iteration, or extension, of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
