2023 OELAS Symposium - Call for Session Proposals
OELAS is seeking teacher leaders and instructional leaders to facilitate sessions!
Do you enjoy sharing your passion and expertise in English Language Development Instruction with other educators? Do you have knowledge of effective strategies that scaffold and support English learners in developing their language proficiency and propel them to success? If you are interested in sharing your expertise with other Arizona educators and instructional leaders of English learners, the Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS) invites you to submit a proposal to present at one of the many breakout sessions offered throughout the learning event.

We have two events over three days:
Monday, December 4 - Tuesday, December 5 | 8:00am-4:00pm
A two-day event for educators of English learners!
Wednesday, December 6 | 8:00am-4:00pm
A single-day event for instructional leaders that oversee and support instructional programs for English learners!
We are desiring highly engaging and tangible sessions to address the following English learner topics:
- Compensatory Instruction for ELs and RFEP Students
- Parent and Family Engagement, Specific to ELs
- Language Scaffolds and Differentiation for ELs
- Formative Assessment Practices (Principle 4 of the LDA)
- Continued Supports for Reclassified Fluent English Proficient (RFEP) Students
- Effective ELD Programs
- Effective Use of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS)
- Instruction Specific to ELs in Particular Proficiency Levels
- Effective Targeted ELD Instruction
- ELPS - Specific Application of the Modes of Communication or Language Standards
- Effective Integrated Instruction
