Every student deserves to be taught by an accomplished teacher. National Board Certification was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. It is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education.

Have you heard the great news? Arizona teachers can pursue National Board certification with nearly all expenses covered! Through funding from the Arizona Teacher Academy, the Arizona K12 Center has the resources available to cover the cost of all four components of the National Board process for eligible teachers.

To learn more about the Arizona K12 Center’s support and funding assistance visit our website. To be eligible for funding, you must complete the following events:

  • National Board Pre-Candidacy Course, January 6 - February 17, 2021
  • National Board Institute, March 1, March 2, and March 4, 2021
  • National Board New Candidate Kickoff, March 20, 2021

Due to increased interest, the Arizona K12 Center has extended the application window to apply for funding assistance. The deadline to apply for funding is March 22, 2021. Funding will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funding applications will be provided on Day Two of the National Board Institute. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Arizona K12 Center at [email protected] or at (602) 443-6444.

You may question whether or not you can start this process during a pandemic. Yes, you can! It is absolutely doable as the teacher decides how much or how little they want to accomplish in a given year. Perhaps your goal is to complete all the above prerequisites and complete Component 1 of the process which is the content knowledge assessment during this school year. Then, next year start the in-class portions of the process. You have three years to complete the process and you are in the driver’s seat.

These are challenging times and the Arizona K12 Center is here to support you as you consider this next step in your career. If you are considering pursuing National Board Certification, now could be the perfect time!
