Supervisors of Principals' Academy
The Supervisors of Principals’ Academy (SOPA) is a professional development program provided by Arizona Department of Education and WestEd at no cost to principal supervisors.
SOPA networks charter and public school central office administrators to learn about research and best practices in principal supervision. The program provides:
Networked learning on leadership coaching and performance evaluation
Three in-person Institutes on using practical supervision observation tools
Monthly in-person and online coaching on supervision
Access to research and best practices from within and beyond Arizona
The program is accepting applications now through August 10, 2023. To learn more and apply, visit SOPA Registration Form. All SOPA participants fully completing the program can receive continuing education credit toward recertification.
The new SOPA cohort will start August 25, 2023.

Featured SOPA Presenter: Dr. Matthew Clifford serves as Director of Education Research for WestEd with a focus on educational leadership research, professional learning, and policy improvement projects. Dr. Clifford designs and leads principal professional development improvement networks. He has been studying and working with school principals as a researcher for the past 18 years, and is a lifelong educator, having previously worked as a teacher, curriculum director, and professional developer.
