The School Safety Program (SSP), funded by the Arizona legislature, provides school safety and mental health professionals to Arizona schools. In December 2019, the program was expanded to include school counselors and social workers for the first time. Despite these gains, demand outstripped program funds, leaving many schools who applied for a position unfunded.

SUICIDE PREVENTION/MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TRAININGS OFFERED
The Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines model (originally Virginia School Threat Assessment Guidelines), developed by Dr. Dewey Cornell in 2001, focuses on a multidisciplinary team approach, using a decision tree process, to discern and respond to threats of violence within schools.
