Transportation Requirements for Local Education Agencies

The McKinney-Vento Homelessness Assistance Act requires that local educational agencies, such as public school districts and public charter districts, ensure that transportation is provided to and from the “school of origin” (42 U.S.C. §11432(g)(1)(J)(iii)).

Parents, Guardians, and Youth

If you are a parent or youth experiencing homelessness and would like to learn more about transportation for your child, please connect with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison at your child’s school district by accessing the McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison Contact List. Locate your child’s school district and McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison on this list and contact them at the email address or phone number they have provided. If you are unsure what school district or McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison you should contact or have any difficulty reaching them, please contact our office by emailing [email protected] or by calling (602) 542-4963.

McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons

If you are McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison or other local educational agency personnel, and have questions regarding transportation for students experiencing homelessness, please contact our office by emailing [email protected] or by calling (602) 542-4963.

More information and resources are coming soon to support McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons in providing this critical support for the students they serve!
