What is Troops to Educators? (TTE)

Arizona Troops to Educators (TTE) replaced the Troops to Teachers (TTT) program in 2020. It is a FREE service for the military community that wants to begin a new or second career in education. Your military, professional, and educational experience may lead to a fulfilling career in Education. Eligible participants can receive academic counseling, certification recommendations, and employment referral assistance throughout Arizona.

Eligibility:  Active duty and their spouses, Guard/Reserve, and Veterans. **Participants must have served at least 4 years of Honorable service and must register for participation in the TTE program.**

Financial Assistance: Various scholarships, grants, and waivers may be available at state agencies, veteran organizations, or education benefits provided through the DoD. Recently separated service members may qualify for a Military Initial Certification Fee Waiver. Scholarships such as the Arizona Teachers Academy offer a zero-to-low-cost option to obtain a degree in education. (Requirements and offerings vary by each state university or community college) Additional financial resources may be available through your local USVets-Phoenix office.

Have a Bachelor's degree! Consider the "Arizona Teacher Residency" option, which will lead to a Master's in Education, a living stipend, and mentor support, among other benefits, to help you become a great teacher in Arizona.

Why You?

The Military Community often...

Understand structure and sequence, which are a natural fit for the classroom.

Experience with varying cultures and perspectives will help students understand global dynamics.

Have life experiences to build character and help foster students' imaginations.

Possess the skills and leadership qualities to be a strong educator and mentor.

These are professional and model core principles found in every branch of the military.
