 Join the ADE Secondary Transition team for Transition Tuesdays!

The ADE/ESS Secondary Transition specialists miss you and want to reconnect! We will be providing webinars and “office hours” to assist you with continuing to support your students through the transition planning process. On Tuesday mornings, we will present a webinar on a transition topic, and on Tuesday afternoons, we will be helping you navigate through some of the many resources available for transition planning online. Alternate Tuesday afternoons will feature virtual office hours when you can ask questions and problem-solve with the specialists and other transition stakeholders.

We hope you’ll join us! We will be using the Microsoft Teams format. Please ensure that your work computer is capable of running Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams can be downloaded and utilized on a personal computer or smartphone. For any further questions or assistance, please email the ESS Transition inbox.

April 14 Summary of Performance The Summary of Performance is an important part of the transition process for students with disabilities who are exiting high school. Not only is it an IDEA requirement, but it is designed to provide the student with the information needed to continue pursuing his or her postsecondary goals. Join the secondary transition team for a review of best practices for developing the Summary of Performance.

 

April 21 Transition Activities Online Transition activities are part of the coordinated set of services that provide students with disabilities opportunities to explore the aspects of their postsecondary goals and make informed decisions. The secondary transition team will review best practices and provide resources that will support the IEP team in making decisions for attainable postsecondary goals.

 

April 28 Transition Assessments Online Transition assessments provide the foundation for the entire transition planning process. Join the secondary transition team to review best practices and resources for finding your students’ interests, preferences, and strengths.

 

May 5 Transition Assessments & Measurable Postsecondary Goals for Complex Support Needs Transition assessments provide the foundation for the entire transition planning process. For students with complex support needs, the assessment process is the same, but we know that the information may need to be accessed in different ways. Join the secondary transition team to review this process and how the information can lead to a meaningful day for your students.

 

May 12 Transition Activities for Complex Support Needs Transition activities are part of the coordinated set of services that provide students with disabilities opportunities to explore the aspects of their postsecondary goals and make informed decisions. For students with complex support needs activities may look a little different but the outcomes should be the same. Join the secondary transition team to review this process and how the information can lead to a meaningful day for your students.

Secondary Transition Best Practices Workshop

Audience: School Administrators, Special Education Directors, Special Educators, General Educators, Parents, Youth/Young Adults, and Community Services Providers

This interactive workshop assists participants in applying information from previous secondary transition training(s) conducted by our ADE/ESS transition specialists. The expectation is that participants attending this training will come with a foundational knowledge of Indicator 13 secondary transition IEP requirements.

This workshop will go beyond compliance requirements with evidence-based best practices for a meaningful transition planning process within the IEP for students with disabilities. ADE/ESS specialists will assist participants with hands-on activities to participate in the transition planning process and, as appropriate, to review their own IEPs using best practices to improve student postsecondary outcomes.

Cultivate the Connection! The Alignment Between Accommodations and Employability

How do you increase inclusion of students with disabilities and facilitate their success in career and technology (CTE) courses? Employers hire individuals with disabilities every day and accommodate their needs using helpful resources, such as the Job Accommodation Network (JAN). If they can do it, you can too!

This session will introduce participants to this useful tool of real-world, industry-specific accommodations that can be implemented to prepare students with disabilities for successful completion of CTE programs and future self-advocacy in postsecondary life.

Transition to Adulthood: From Kickball to Career!

This presentation will review the Predictors of Post-Secondary Success as identified by the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT). Activities related to these predictors can begin as early as pre-school to help students begin to develop the necessary knowledge and skills that will lead to a positive post-school outcome. Participants will review their current practices and add new activities to facilitate development of these essential skills.

Using AzCIS in Your Classrooms for CCR

How are you preparing your students for careers, college, and life? How does personalizing education prepare Arizona students? We will briefly discuss the Arizona Education Career Action Plan (ECAP) process for high school students, which guide students into post-high school options and the world of work. We will review the online Arizona Career Information System (AzCIS) career and education planning tool available to all Arizona educators and how it can be used within the classroom.

Understanding the Post School Outcomes (PSO) Survey: Data Collection, Analysis, and Use

This interactive and practical training is designed for those who oversee or administer the Post School Outcomes (PSO) Survey. The PSO Survey, conducted one year after students exit high school, is required to be completed by districts and charter schools who serve students with disabilities ages 16 and over each year between June 1st and September 30th. Upon completion of the training, participants will understand requirements for the PSO Survey and how to incorporate suggested tips and techniques to ensure the data collection is meaningful and results obtained are useful.

Ways You Can Impact Student Outcomes and Success

This workshop will address critical issues affecting student outcomes. Each summer, high-school aged students who received special education services and graduated, aged out, or dropped out of school are contacted to participate in the Post School Outcomes (PSO) Survey. The PSO Survey chronicles engagement in postsecondary education/training or employment.

The presenter will use PSO data to drive a discussion related to best practices in collaboration, IEP/transition planning, and curriculum alignment while facilitating discussion about an educational atmosphere driven by high stakes outcomes. Examples of superior collaboration and action plans from local districts will be discussed.
