Farm to Summer Challenge Registration

  • Fri, May 7 2021

The Farm to Summer Challenge is an initiative of the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Health and Nutrition Services (HNS) Division to encourage Farm to School activities during Summer Food Service Program/Summer Seamless Option by creating excitement around serving fresh and locally sourced ingredients.

Program operators will have three weeks to complete challenge criteria (TASTE, TEACH & CONNECT Arizona). Note: Due to continued challenges caused by COVID-19, modifications will be offered within the challenge criteria to support extended flexibility to all interested meal service operators.

Join us for an informational webinar on May 12 from 3:30-4:30pm to kick off the challenge and review challenge rules. Register here!

When is the Farm to Summer Challenge?

June 1 – June 25, 2021.

Program operators will have three weeks to complete all challenge activities. Operators that intend to participate must sign up for the challenge through the registration link by Monday, May 31.

What are the Farm to Summer Challenge rules?

TASTE Arizona: Serve a local food a minimum of three items as part of a reimbursable meal.

TEACH Arizona: Host a minimum of two educational activities. The educational activities must be themed around local food items and/or Arizona agriculture.

CONNECT Arizona: Share a minimum of one promotional material with your community that highlights your Farm to Summer activities (e.g., social media post, newspaper feature, newsletter, school website feature, posters or banners, etc.).

Documentation must be submitted to HNS to confirm completion of challenge activities before July 2. Awardees will be announced after the challenge submissions are reviewed.

We are already cheering you on!

Registration for the Farm to Summer Challenge is open! Click here to sign up today.
