Welcome to College Credit by Examination Program
The College Credit by Examination Incentive Program (CCEIP) ARS §15-249.06 provides incentive bonuses to teachers, school districts, and charter schools for students who obtain a passing score on a qualifying examination for college credit in mathematics, English language arts, social studies, or science while in high school. Qualifying exams may include select Advanced Placement® (AP), Cambridge Assessment International Education® A and AS Level, and International Baccalaureate® (IB) exams. Beginning in fiscal year 2017-2018, ADE paid an incentive bonus to school districts and charter schools for each student in grades nine through twelve who received a passing score during the previous fiscal year on a qualifying examination identified by the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR).
NOTE: FY2026 CCEIP Funding remains reduced by the Arizona Legislature to half the prior allocation. Incentive Payments will exceed the budget, and expected incentive bonus amounts shall be reduced per ARS §15-206(C):
If the statewide sum of per student bonuses awarded pursuant to this subsection exceeds the amount of available monies appropriated for incentive bonuses, the bonus monies shall be reduced proportionally to cover all eligible bonus awards.
Prior-year allocations (FY25, for exams taken in 2023–2024) were as follows:
- Schools with 50% or greater poverty: FY25 final incentive was calculated to $129.45 PER EXAM.
- Schools with less than 50% poverty: FY25 final incentive was calculated to $86.30 PER EXAM.
Note that the Arizona Legislature maintained FY2026 CCEIP funding for exams taken in 2024–2025 at the same level as FY25, which will again result in a reduced incentive per test.
The number of passing exams exceeds that of FY25, and the final incentive will be reduced below the level funded during FY25.

FY26 CCEIP Payment Notification Memo
Payments for incentive bonus amounts for FY26 shall be made by March 1st, 2026, per ARS §15-206(C):
If the statewide sum of per-student bonuses awarded pursuant to this subsection exceeds the amount of available monies appropriated for incentive bonuses, the bonus monies shall be reduced proportionally to cover all eligible bonus awards.
- Schools with 50% or greater poverty: $129.45 per qualifying eligible exam.
- Schools with less than 50% poverty: $86.30 per qualifying eligible exam.
NOTE: LEAs and schools can access their detailed College Board AP exam student-level data at: apcentral.collegeboard.org/scores
A student who receives a passing score on a qualifying examination and who is enrolled in a school where 50% or more of the students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches shall generate for the school district or charter school a bonus of $450 per passing score on a qualifying examination (subject to availability of funds). A student who receives a passing score on a qualifying examination and who is enrolled in a school where less than 50% of the students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches shall generate for the school district or charter school a bonus of $300 per passing score on a qualifying examination (subject to availability of funds).
If the statewide sum of per student bonuses awarded exceeds the amount of available monies appropriated by the legislature for incentive bonuses, the bonus monies shall be reduced proportionally to cover all eligible bonus awards. A school district or charter school that receives an incentive shall distribute at least 50% of the bonus monies to the associated classroom teacher for each student who passes a qualifying examination, and to other teachers of relevant subjects who instructed that student, including but not limited to teachers in the same department or subject matter that contributed to the student passing the examination, as identified by the school district governing board, the charter school governing body or the school principal.
Bonus monies awarded to a teacher pursuant to this subsection shall be in addition to any regular wage, compensation, or other bonus the teacher receives or is scheduled to receive and shall be provided to the teacher by the end of the school year or not later than thirty days after the end of the school year. The remainder of any bonus monies received by a school district or charter school shall be used for teacher professional development or student instructional support, reimbursement of examination fees, or instructional materials. Any bonus monies received by a school district or charter school shall be separately accounted for in the school district's or charter school's Annual Financial Report. Additionally, Incentive bonuses distributed to and any bonus monies received by a school district or charter school through this program are not subject to collective bargaining.
The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) maintains a list of qualifying examinations that a high school student may take in order to receive college credit in mathematics, English language arts, social studies, or science from any university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona Board of Regents and the passing scores required on those examinations to receive college credit.

Q1. As a school district, how do I confirm that the AP test results for CCEIP are accurate?
A: Schools can check AP data after the release of the July 15th report to schools. Ideally, schools are checking this file and confirming that all students who took AP exams are reflected before the September deadline, when information is sent to ADE. Common issues to check for include schools that have the same name in different districts.
Q2. My school results in the public report do not match the award we received. How do I query that?
A: The public results are redacted for all individual or calculated values smaller than 11 students. If you had 9 students pass an exam, that result would be an asterisk (*) in the public report. You may see your unredacted results in the ADEConnect report through the AzEDS Portal.
