Arizona Adult Education and High School Equivalency Services
Arizona's economy depends on a skilled workforce, yet many Arizona adults face barriers to employment and advancement:
- More than 500,000 Arizonans are supporting themselves and their families without a high school diploma
- Almost 400,000 more have completed high school but lack strong literacy and math skills or credentials required for in-demand jobs
Adult Education focuses on reskilling and upskilling Arizona adults to open doors to meaningful careers, family-sustaining wages, and long-term stability.
Adult Education and High School Equivalency Services are available for students aged 16+ who are not enrolled in a K12 school. Adult Education assists students with:
- Improving literacy and academic skills
- Improving English language proficiency skills
- Earning a High School Equivalency Diploma
- Workforce preparation and employability skills
- Integrated education and workforce training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster
- Transition to post-secondary education and/or employment.
These components are provided concurrently and contextually, allowing students to build academic, employability, and technical skills at the same time, accelerating progress toward education and career advancement.
