As we embark on another year of COVID-informed arts education, we at ADE are excited about the creativity, imagination, and arts opportunities that you as arts educators will support and facilitate. Our goal is to help ensure that EVERY Arizona student has EVERY opportunity to participate in quality arts experiences as a part of a well-rounded education. Thank you for all that you do as arts educators to ensure this vision becomes a reality.
In this newsletter we will spotlight Sherrie Zeitlin and The Arts Resource Center. We also want to remind you about the upcoming deadlines to register for the Arts & Physical Education Digital Summit and submit an application for the State Seal of Arts Proficiency. September is host to the National Arts in Education Week. Included in this newsletter is a link to Act One's Educator Tool Kit. Stay tuned for a special edition newsletter and blog posts to celebrate AZ Arts Education Week September 12-18!
This newsletter also features a wealth of educator and student opportunities in the arts. Student showcase opportunities include Youth Arts Month, ESSA 2022 Virtual Student Showcase, and the ADE Student Art Gallery. Additionally, local organizations such as Act One, ASU Gammage, Ballet Arizona, and AzDEO all have amazing opportunities to enrich student learning in and through the arts.
The National Association for Music Education recently shared excerpts of an interview with Dr. Miguel Cardona about his thoughts on music and arts in American schools. “We are underestimating the power of music and the arts to provide what our country needs right now, which is healing,” says the US Secretary of Education.
Thank you all for the amazing work that you do in the classroom and community in supporting student opportunities to experience the power and beauty of the Arts, and the joy, creativity, and intellectual stimulation that instruction in the Arts provides.
