Arizona's test development process involves an extensive review before an item will count toward students' test scores. During the item development process, all assessment items are written in accordance with Item Specifications. A committee of Arizona educators reviews and approves the items to confirm alignment and appropriateness for inclusion on the test. Each step in the process is designed to ensure that test results are valid, reliable, and appropriate for Arizona students, families, and other members of Arizona communities. Participating educators are representatives of Arizona's geographic regions and represent culturally diverse populations.

For the Educator Review Committees, we are inviting content area teachers, teachers of students with disabilities, teachers of English learner students, instructional coaches, and administrators to provide their perspectives on the items and standards set on Arizona's statewide assessments. AASA

Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) is the statewide achievement test for Arizona students in Grades 3-8. All Arizona public school students in Grades 3-8 will take the grade-level AASA assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

English Language Arts and Math Essential Standards

AzSCI

AzSCI, Arizona's statewide achievement test for Science, is administered to public school students in Grade 5 (covering domains from Grades 3/4/5 standards), Grade 8 (covering domains from Grades 6/7/8 standards), and Grade 11/Cohort 2028 (covering domains from high school standards).

ACT Aspire

ACT Aspire is the statewide high school achievement test administered to Arizona public school students in Grade 9/Cohort 2030 in Spring 2027 and includes test sections for English, Math, Reading, Science, and Writing.

All Arizona public schools, including district schools and charter schools, are required to properly administer state and federally mandated assessments.

Achievement District Test Coordinators

Achievement District Test Coordinators

The Achievement District Test Coordinator (DTC) is responsible for AASA ELA and Math assessments for students in grades 3-8 and AzSCI Science assessments for students in grades 5, 8, and the 11th grade cohort. The Achievement DTC is also responsible for the ACT Aspire test administration for students in the 9th grade cohort and the ACT test administration for students in the 11th grade cohort.

AZELLA Additional Accommodation to Administer the Test in More than 5 Instructional Days

AZELLA Additional Accommodation to Administer the Test in More than 5 Instructional Days

This is a request for the additional accommodation of administering the AZELLA in more than 5 instructional days. This is the ONLY accommodation needed for these students. These students are eligible for the administration of the AZELLA and their current IEPs and/or 504 Plans state that the students require additional time for state testing.

This request must be submitted by school and for up to 15 students per submission. You may not include multiple schools. The submission will cover both AZELLA test administrations (Placement and Spring Reassessment) for the students during the current school year. This request is only valid for the current school year. If the student’s IEP or 504 Plan is updated for instruction and state assessments during the school year and after this initial submission, you will need to submit a new request with the updated IEP or 504 Plan.

The submission of this request and the attestation below suffice for the provision of administering the AZELLA in more than 5 days. The AZELLA Placement Test must be administered within the compliance timeline. The administration of the Spring AZELLA Reassessment must be completed within 10 instructional days.
