The Arizona Department of Education & Arizona Art Education Association are proud to host a gallery showcase in celebration of Youth Arts Month in March!
The Arizona Art Education Association will be hosting a Youth Arts Month Virtual Showcase and 2022 YAM Flag Design Contest along with the Arizona Department of Education!
This year's theme is “Art Connects Us”.
The overall winning AAEA design will be made into a flag to represent Arizona and be displayed at the Youth Art Month Museum during the National Art Education Association National Convention and displayed at the Arizona Department of Education YAM Virtual Showcase in mid- March. Divisional winners will also be displayed at the National Art Education Association National Convention and The Arizona Department of Education YAM Virtual Showcase.
Open to all AAEA member’s students grade levels K-12
Must be original student artwork from the 2020-21 school year
Must relate to 2021 Youth Art Month Theme “Art Connect Us”
Submit up to 2 student artwork per grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) per teacher.
Submit high-res image, cropped to artwork dimensions in JPEG or PNG Files
Include a student description of the artwork up to 100 words in length.
AAEA member submissions for YAM Flags due by Wednesday, October, 13th at 11:59pm
Fill out the online submission submission form by Friday, January 8th at 11:59 pm
Submissions received by December 10th at 11:59pm will be considered for the ESSA Virtual Student Showcase
Upload a signed Artwork- Photography Release form
AAEA winning design and divisional winners will be recognized and highlighted at AAEA/ ADE Virtual showcase in March and will be displayed in the NAEA National Convention. Also the top 10 submissions from all ADE and AAEA submissions of each grade band will be displayed in a virtual showcase and recognized in celebration of Youth Arts Month in March.

On March 24th a virtual event will be available celebrating Youth Arts Month in Arizona Schools - a time when we celebrate dance, music, media arts, theatre, and visual arts education in our state. Please enjoy the Arizona 2021 Youth Arts Month Celebration!
The Council for Art Education administers Youth Art Month (YAM) at the national level to showcase the positive impact and association between art teachers and students. YAM promotes visual art education for all K - 12 students and encourages funding for quality school art programs.

The Arizona Department of Education: Arts Education is beyond thrilled to announce the approval of 39 LEAs and 145 schools to administer the State Seal of Arts Proficiency in the 2021-2022 school year.
Calling all arts educators to highlight innovative ways performing arts & interdisciplinary classrooms are engaging every student, every day, with every opportunity at the 2022 ESSA Conference January 10-12. The Virtual Student Showcase is an exciting opportunity for students, teachers, and schools to share the amazing and incredible arts learning experiences that are occuring within Arizona classrooms.
