A great day of sharing curriculum ideas and methods from fellow educators including information from the NDEO annual conference last October. Build Early Skills Through Music

Free for educators Musical play enhances development in young children. Early childhood (from birth through age 8) educators will learn how to engage students in observation, discussion, and play based on MIM’s collection.

STEM For Early Childhood New in 2019–2020!

Saturday, January 11, 2020  |  1:00 p.m. –3:00pm

Free for educators STEM learning in early childhood can begin with music. Early childhood (from birth through age 8) educators will learn how to engage students in scientific exploration, observation, investigation, and analysis with the use of play and age-appropriate STEM projects related to musical instruments in MIM’s collection.

Create a Global Classroom

Saturday, February 15, 2020  |  10:00 a.m.–noon Free for educators Learn new, musical ways to bring culture into the classroom. Engage students in grades 3–12 through games, projects, and writing and discussion prompts that will empower them to investigate material culture from the museum’s collections. Focus: Mexican Banda, Yaqui Pascolas, and Central African cultural symbolism.

STEM: An Introduction to Musical Electronics New in 2019-2020!

Saturday, February 15, 2020  |  1:00–3:00 p.m.

Free for educators

Electronics are indispensable in both the music industry and daily life. Discover fun and engaging ways to introduce students in grades 3–12 to the basic concepts of electronics and magnetism that are used in musical instruments throughout MIM’s collections. No prior experience is necessary.

Through the support of the CMA Foundation (Country Music Association) and US Bank, The Phoenix Conservatory of Music is hosting a series of networking mixers designed specifically for music educators! General Music Educators, Band, Orchestra, Choir, Electronic Music, Teaching Artists and Private Teachers- ALL are welcome!!  This is an opportunity for you to network and mix outside of your schools, districts and organizations. Let’s come together as a community and support each other…
