PD OPPORTUNITY: Free Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training Available, Register Now!

Special Education Directors,

ADE/ESS is pleased to announce Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training opportunities! New Instructor Certification Training and Instructor Certification Renewal Training options are available, at no charge, to public education agencies in Arizona. Districts and charter schools have the opportunity to send up to two individuals on a first-come, first-served basis.

Instructor Certification Training—Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)

About CPI: CPI provides a framework to defuse challenging and disruptive behavior(s) to help prevent crisis situations. Successful implementation facilitates a culture of care, welfare, safety, and security within an organization. CPI training can help improve confidence in navigating day-to-day challenges while improving staff relationships with both service users and stakeholders. CPI has been proven to reduce risk of injury and alleviate stress & anxiety, all while improving staff retention.

Training Opportunities: The Instructor Certification Program includes four full days of classroom training. Training dates can be selected from the following options:

  • February 5—8, 2019
  • March 19—22, 2019

The Instructor Certification Renewal Program includes both online learning and one day of classroom training. Participants must have completed the Instructor Certification (or Renewal Program) and must be seeking to fulfill the two-year instructor proficiency requirement to be eligible for this course. Training date options are as follows:

  • May 6, 2019
  • May 7, 2019

Location All trainings will be offered at the Arizona Department of Education, located at: 1535 W. Jefferson St., Conference Room 311—312, Phoenix, AZ 85007.
