ADE/ESS is excited to share that Arizona’s 2024 IDEA Conference will be held from September 4–6, 2024 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix. ADE/ESS is pleased to request proposals for this year’s conference. Please consider submitting presentations that represent your creative and research-based work. See the attached 2024 IDEA Conference Call for Papers Guidelines for information on how to submit.

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERTFY23 Discipline Data Collection UpdateTo learn about updates to the ESS Discipline Data Collection (DDC) application for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2023, please review this memo which outlines upcoming changes. It is important to note that while reporting discipline data into AzEDS has been made available for FY23, this is a pilot year. All discipline data submissions for SPED students resulting in a removal will be required to be submitted into the ESS Discipline Data Collection application for FY23.

This year’s conference will be held in person from September 7–9, 2022 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix. Under Section 616 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004 (IDEA), States are required to make a determination for all public education agencies (PEAs) of their performance on identified special education criteria. The Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2018 determinations have been posted to the PEA Determinations section of the ESS website.

Special Education Directors,Please see the following memo regarding preschool outcomes data in AzEDS for fiscal year 2024. In order to streamline the preschool outcome data collection process, the data collection and processing for these submissions will move into one single student accountability system (AzEDS) moving forward. The ESS Early Childhood Special Education and Operations teams will provide targeted technical assistance for this data collection process in March 2023.
