Join the ADE ELA Team and various literacy leaders around the state for a FREE 10-week book study on the phenomenal text: Fundamentals of Literacy Instruction & Assessment by Dr. Martha C. Hougen and Dr. Susan Smartt. 

Understand the science of reading and how to implement evidence-based instruction to increase the reading and writing achievement of pre-K–6 students. Fully revised and updated, this core text covers the research base for structured literacy instruction and practical guidance on the essential components of literacy instruction.

  • Participants must register for each week's session individually. All participants who register in EMS, read their chapter, and attend the book study will be given 2-hours PD credit.
  • Certificates will be in EMS and no record of attendance will be emailed.  
  • Consecutive Tuesdays, starting January 26th through March 30th, from 4:30-5:30 AZ time.

Zoom sessions will NOT be recorded, so please plan to attend each session live if interested in participating.
