AZ Civics Test Guide and Links
As of Jan. 1, 2017 any one who wants to obtain their HSE Diploma in Arizona will also have to pass the Civics test. To help you prepare for the AZ Civics Test, view the Civics Test and Administration Manual. It will also help to go over this list of 100 US Civics Questions provided by the US Department of Homeland Security.
If you completed your AZ Civics test in high school and need to transfer the result to your High School Equivalency record, follow the steps outlined in the Civics Test Transfer Form and submit to your high school.
AZ Civics Test FAQ
1. Where can I take the test?
The test can only be taken at authorized GED/Pearson Vue testing centers.
2. How many questions are on the test and what score do I need to get to pass?
It is a 100 question multiple choice test and you must get 60 questions correct to pass.
3. How much time do I have to complete the test?
As much time as you need. It is not timed.
4. Where do I go to sign up to take the test?
You can schedule and pay for it on GED.com just like the other 4 tests. You can take the test at any time during your GED testing experience, it is a separate module
5. How many times can I take it and is there any wait time in between takes?
You may take the test as many times as you need to pass and there is no required waiting time in between tries, although it is recommended that you study prior to retaking the test.
6. Can I take the test in Spanish?
The test is only administered in English
7. What is the cost of the test?
The cost for the Civics test will be $9.00 per attempt.

Corrections Agency or Facility
If you are a Correctional Agency or Facility that requires a verification of a High School Equivalency, please follow the steps below:
- Submit a release form containing the following information:
- Full legal name and any alias names the inmate may have used.
- Full date of birth.
- Full social security number.
- Inmate’s signature.
- Any additional information that would be helpful to the verification process.
- The release form can be submitted through one of the following methods:

- The request will be processed and a response will be sent after 1 to 2 business days.
