On May 31, the Science Standards Revision Working Group convened to continue the process of revising Arizona’s Science Standards. A total of 27 Arizona educators participated, representing 2 institutes of higher education and 25 districts/schools, including 3 charter schools. The U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) issued a seven-page memo detailing potential ways to use federal formula grant funds to support STEM education. The document references funds available through the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins).
