Multi–Tier Behavior Supports Training for K–12

Sponsored by the Arizona Department of Education/Exceptional Student Services, Multi-Tier Behavior Supports is a three-year training that will assist school teams with the development of a school-wide approach for positive behavior management practices. This training is based on School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (SW-PBIS) evidence-based elements.

Cost:
Year One—$708 per team member*
Year Two—Grant Funded
Year Three—Grant Funded
*Teams must be comprised of six team members

Mandatory attendance is required at ONE of the following informational webinars:
May 12, 4:00–5:00 p.m.
May 14, 3:30–4:30 p.m.
May 18, 4:00–5:00 p.m.

School Team—Principal

Enrollment for the first year of training will be provided after completion of the following:

  1. Attendance at ONE of the webinars listed above
  2. Submission of a completed school and/or district readiness agreement (details provided at webinar)

Facilitated IEP Trainings

The Arizona Department of Education/Dispute Resolution Unit is excited to present the first Facilitated IEP training of 2015.

The Dispute Resolution Unit believes there are three components needed to facilitate a successful IEP meeting: standardized meeting practices, knowledge of the IEP process, and the use of meeting management skills that aid in minimizing conflict and maximizing collaboration. This training is designed to teach these three components.

There is a limit of 50 participants; registration is $75.00 for the two-day training and will include breakfast, lunch, and all training materials.

TBI 100 — Concussion and Mild Brain Injury and Returning to Learning

This new ½-day (3.5 hour) course introduces participants, especially general educators, special educators, coaches, trainers and parents, to the concept of mild brain injury (mTBI). Content will address types of mild brain injuries and causes as well as the implications of injury on normal brain-behaviors. In addition, the workshop will focus participants on how to successfully return students to the learning environment after concussion. The format will include short lecture segments with open discussion and a 20-minute video segment addressing the need for concussion/mild brain injury prevention.

Understanding the Post School Outcomes (PSO) Survey: Data Collection, Analysis and Use

This interactive and practical training is designed for those who oversee or administer the Post School Outcomes (PSO) Survey. The PSO Survey, conducted one year after students exit high school, is required to be completed by districts and charter schools who serve students with disabilities ages 16 and over each year between June 1st and September 30th. Upon completion of the training participants will:
understand requirements for the PSO Survey
be skilled in conducting the survey and inputting responses
know how to incorporate suggested tips and techniques to insure that data collection is meaningful and results obtained are useful.

TBI 303 — Contemporary Issues after Brain Injury Executive Functioning and Transition for Success in Adulthood

This 2-part workshop will include two, 3-hour presentations from agency professionals who will focus on (1) Assessing Executive Functioning and Implications for College and Career Readiness and (2) Secondary Transition: From Kickball to College: Voc Rehab, Adult Programs, and Post-Secondary Education. The format for the sessions will be short-format lecture with open discussion, ongoing Q&A sessions throughout, and include interactive opportunities to review relevant assessments and resources. All materials will be provided.

You must have taken TBI 100 (mTBI/Concussion) OR TBI 101 (Introduction to TBI) prior to this workshop.

Writing a Secondary IEP for Transition Using Best Practices Workshop

This interactive workshop assists participants in applying information from previous secondary transition training(s) conducted by our ADE/ESS transition specialists to specific students’ needs. The expectation is that participants attending this training will come with a foundation of Indicator 13 knowledge. After a quick review of Indicator 13 components (with specific best practices examples), specialists will assist participants in reviewing their IEPs to answer four key questions designed to improve transition plans.
