The Lexile Framework for Reading

AIMS/Lexile Conversion Tables
Grades 3-8 and High School

A study was conducted in the spring of 2007 that linked the AIMS Reading scale score with The Lexile Framework® for Reading. Below are links to the conversion tables. Use the student’s Spring 2009 AIMS Reading scale score to determine the student’s Lexile® measure for the 2009-2010 school year.

The Lexile Framework® for Reading is an educational tool that has been developed to measure reading comprehension and text difficulty by placing readers and text on the same developmental scale. Lexiles help educators, parents, and students to select targeted materials to improve reading skills and to monitor reading growth across the curriculum, in the library, and at home. Although Lexiles do not equate to grade levels, the measure that a student receives through the assessment link can be used to connect the reader with books, periodicals, and other materials that meet and challenge his or her individual reading ability.
