The foundations of Language Arts provides the essential tools for learning. The development of a broad range of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, along with the effective use of language, creates ongoing opportunities to acquire knowledge, and to thoughtfully express an understanding or personal response.
The integration of these language processes provides learners, throughout a continuum of development, the opportunity to think deeply, while actively acquiring, constructing, and expressing an understanding of the world around them. The application of literacy competencies includes, and extends beyond, text to visual, audio, and technological sources of information.
