In the 2012-2013 school year the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) will sponsor several Professional Development Trainings as well as offer free basic School Nutrition Seminars.

What are the Professional Development seminars and who should attend?

Professional Development seminars are intended to enhance the nutrition integrity in the schools and the well being of Arizona students. The seminars are geared towards food service directors, but any food service staff interested in enhancing their professional skills should also attend. Please review the Professional Development Workshop descriptions to determine which trainings your staff should attend.

This 2 day course is a nationally recognized sanitation and safety course developed by the US Department of Agriculture and the National Food Service Management Institute (NFSMI). The course will prepare kitchen managers to take the Certified Food Safety Manager exam from the National Registry for Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP). This exam meets the Maricopa County Environmental Services requirements for manager certification and is administered during the second day of the course. Attendees will leave the course equipped with a Serving it Safe Instructor’s manual to teach food safety information to their staff. A class fee of $27.00 is required for materials and NRFSP exam. Attendees must attend both days of training and take the exam in order to register for this course. Payment by check or Money Order is required prior to training day.

Who Should Attend: Food Service/Kitchen Managers, Training Managers

* All classes provide credit hours for both ADA and SNA.

Due to federal regulations ADE is not permitted to offer food or beverages during these sessions. Please plan accordingly.
