The ARRA Title II-D-funded 21st Century Classroom program in Arizona focused on creating 21st Century technology-rich classrooms and providing high-quality professional development and instructional support. The two priorities for the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) for this grant competition were closing student achievement gaps and enhancing technology literacy skills. Professional development, technology, and instructional strategies were all required components for the grant aimed at helping LEAs meet three activity outcomes: (1) Leverage technology to improve students’ academic performance; (2) Accelerate school improvement and reform efforts through the use of technology; (3) Assist every student in becoming technologically literate by the end of the 8th grade.
