The Arizona Department of Education is pleased to present the

6th Annual Civic Learning Conference:

“What’s Next in Civic Education? Preparing Arizonans for Civic Life.”

Join the Arizona Department of Education, Higher Education faculty, Arizona K-12 educators, Arizona Civic Engagement Schools, community organizations and Adult Education program staff for a full day of civic learning. Highly topical and interactive sessions will focus preparing all Arizonan learners with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions for civic life, kindergarten through adult. All session will utilize at least one of the six proven practices for civic learning. There will be sessions for elementary, middle, high school, college and university, and adult education instructors. This year we will also be offering a service learning strand and panel discussions on important and relevant issues including civic discourse in an age of polarization. This year our keynote speaker will be Joel Westheimer, University Research Chair in Democracy and Education at the University of Ottawa and author of What Kind of Citizen?
