Bucketfillers for Life helps children and adults develop and refine their social-emotional competencies through the metaphor of choosing to be a Bucketfiller as a way of life. The KC’s Family Tae Kwon Do “Martial Arts Missions” program brings the excitement of martial arts, along with the character education lessons that are central to martial arts study, into the school environment. Kids think being a Black Belt is “cool,” so when a Black Belt comes to the school, they pay attention. A statistical study of our program by the Maricopa County Juvenile Probation department demonstrates that while the overall recidivism of incarcerated youth hovers around 30%, their study of 357 youth participating in one RTF Bridging Possibilities workshop, shows them recidivating 22.8% of the time, and those participating in multiple BP workshops, recidivate only 16.2% of the time – nearly half.
With this we know that we are adding to their ability to successfully transition to the community with skills they can use as good citizens.

The Be Kind People Project is the only program with the dual mission of thanking teachers, while also equipping Kindergarten through 8th grade students with character development tools to build positive and healthy relationships. Our foundation is the Be Kind Pledge, with ten attributes for children to learn and practice in the classroom, after school, at home, and in the community.
