The Alternate Assessment District Test Coordinator is responsible for the NCSC Alternate Assessments and AIMS A Science.
The AZELLA District Test Coordinator is responsible for the AZELLA Assessment.

Achievement Resources (AzMERIT and AIMS Science)

 

AzMERIT

AzMERIT is the statewide achievement test. Arizona public school students in Grades 3 through high school will take AzMERIT in English Language Arts and Mathematics at their grade level. Students taking high school level English Language Arts and Mathematics will take AzMERIT End-of-Course assessments that will test their proficiency in these subjects near the end of the course.

AIMS Science will be administered to students in Grades 4, 8, and High School.

Alternate Assessment – NCSC and AIMS A

The State’s Alternate Assessments (AIMS A Science and NCSC ELA and Mathematics) were designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities in Grades 3-8 and high school. Students must meet the eligibility requirements as determined by the student’s IEP team in order to participate in the State’s Alternate Assessments.

  • IEP Teams
    IEP Teams must remember to address assessment eligibility and accommodations for both alternate assessments, AIMS A (Science) and NCSC (Math and ELA).
    NCSC (Math and ELA) assesses eligible students grades 3–8 and grade 11.
    AIMS A (Science) assesses eligible students grades 4, 8, and 10 or second year of high school. Specific accommodations for both instruction and the assessments also should be considered in the student’s annual IEP. Information regarding NCSC accommodations and eligibility criteria can be located on the ADE NCSC webpage under General Information:

This report is designed for informational purposes and can be used to ensure best practices for students with an ELL need.
