- Community College & University Disability Resource Centers Event: Are you a youth or young adult with a disability, or someone that works with youth and young adults with disabilities? Are you thinking about attending a college or university after exiting high school? Are you aware of the services that may be available to individuals with disabilities while attending a postsecondary institute? If this sounds of interest to you, then we hope you are able to take advantage of this great learning opportunity!
On THURSDAY, February 25, 2016, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Rehabilitation Administration Services/Vocational Rehabilitation (RSA/VR) has put together an opportunity for you to hear and learn from various Community College and University Disability Resource Centers (DRCs) from across Arizona.
The presentation will occur live at the Phoenix location below, however you can participate by video conference at the other sites.

- WIOA Update: When will the final regulations for WIOA be published?
The Departments of Labor and Education, in collaboration with other Federal partner agencies, published five Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) in April 2015. In addition, the Departments and other Federal partner agencies published several proposed new Information Collection Requests (ICRs) in summer 2015 to inform stakeholders of new data elements that would need to be reported under WIOA. As a result of these publications, the Departments received thousands of public comments, all of which must be considered in the development of final rules and ICRs. The Federal agencies have been diligently working on the analysis of all comments in order to develop final regulations, ICRs, and policies that are consistent with the requirements of WIOA, as well as other authorizing laws for the affected programs. Given the complexity of these issues, the Departments are working toward making the final regulations publicly available in June 2016. The Departments intend to provide necessary information about the requirements imposed by WIOA and the forthcoming regulations as soon as possible through guidance, notification of information collection requirements, and technical assistance, and by making the regulations available on their websites when they are sent to the Federal Register.
- NTACT and Transitionta.org take over for NSTTAC: The grant funding for the National Secondary Transition Technical Assistance Center (NSTTAC) expired on December 31, 2015. The new grant, funded by OSEP, created the National Technical Assistance Center for Transition (NTACT). The NTACT website, transitionta.org, now houses the information and research previously found on www.nsttac.org.

Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your hard work at Arizona’s Sixteenth Annual Transition Conference, being held August 29—31, 2016 at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale! The Planning Committee is looking for innovative programs, promising practices, inspiring collaborations, and motivational students or personnel to present at this year’s conference. The deadline for proposals is Monday, February 15, 2016. Contact Jeannette Zemeida at Jeannette.Zemeida@azed.gov with questions.
The conference is also a wonderful opportunity to highlight creative and inspirational artwork created by students with disabilities. If your student’s artwork is selected for the cover of the conference brochure (and to be used as the THEME), the student and his or her family members are eligible for a scholarship that covers registration and lodging costs (outside of the general Maricopa County area). CALL FOR BROCHURE ARTWORK
Arizona’s Sixteenth Annual Transition Conference Planning Committee is seeking artwork designed by students with IEPs for this year’s conference brochure cover. Any student currently enrolled in an Arizona public education agency (PEA) or approved private school who is identified with a disability and is between the ages of 14 and 22 is eligible to submit an entry. Please visit the 2016 Transition Conference website, http://www.azed.gov/special-education/2016-transition-conference, for additional information and directions for submitting artwork for consideration. The entry submission deadline is Thursday, March 3, 2016.

The Secondary Transition Mentoring Project / College and Career Readiness Team Training (STMP/CCRTT) Project provides systematic professional development that promotes college and career readiness for all students. |An ECAP (Education and Career Action Plan) reflects a student’s current plan of coursework, career aspirations, and extended learning opportunities in order to develop the student’s individual academic and career goals. The AzCIS (Arizona Career Information System) is designed to provide comprehensive educational, career, and occupational information to help the users in making better-informed career and school choices. |The Arizona Community of Practice on Transition (AZCoPT) is a committee dedicated to improving collaboration among secondary transition planning partners. The mission of AZCoPT is to improve life-long outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities. The team does this by: informing and educating the public, addressing unmet needs through collaboration, evaluating the transition process and system, articulating and recommending data-driven system improvements (policy and program), and by strengthening local teams by supporting development/expansion, removing barriers, and enhancing creative problem solving.
