ADE Model Directory Information Release Form

Schools and school districts are required, pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes section 15-142, to release pupil directory information by October 31 each year. The statute also requires ADE to develop a model form to assist districts and charters in complying with this requirement. A link to the form and associated memo is below, in both English and Spanish. ADE’s government relations bill tracking report for 2-15-13 is attached. The Senate education agenda for Thursday, 2/21/13 includes the remainder of ADE’s agency-sponsored legislation, SB1445, 1446, and 1447. ADE offices will be closed for President’s Day weekend, but ADE staff will be present at the House education committee on Monday.

Directive Regarding ELL OCR Agreement

Under a resolution agreement reached with the US Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, The ADE has agreed to certain conditions regarding the identification of English Language Learners. While most of these conditions regard the development of the new version of the Arizona Enlish Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA), there are several actions required of school districts immediately. Accordingly, ADE has distributed a directive outlining the responsibilities of Arizona school districts under this agreement, and the actions ADE will take to assist them in complying. Charter School Teacher and Principal Evaluation Memo

In response to some confusion generated by the recent passage of HB2823 (Laws 2012, Ch. 259) by the Arizona Legislature, the Arizona Department of Education has developed a Memo and a Chart to help charter operators better understand their responsibilities with regard to teacher/principal evalutation. These documents are provided as a service to our charter school customers, but operators should consult their own legal counsel if specific legal concerns arise. Updated Arizona Residency Documentation Guidelines

In response to feedback received from local education agencies (LEAs) around the state, the department has made several adjustments to the residency documentation form required by ARS 15-802(B).
