Professional Development Grants – The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has partnered with County Superintendents’ Educational Service Agencies (ESA) on a variety of professional development projects since 1998. Projects funded by the current Title II grants to ESAs are characterized by at least six of eight research-based criteria shown to correlate with increasing student achievement. Representatives of the ADE, Regional Centers, and Governor’s Office of Education Innovation meet monthly as the Collaborative Education Partnership to coordinate plans for the implementation of all the state’s educational initiatives.
Arizona Regional Education Service and Support Centers are voluntary structures implemented by County School Superintendents and/or alliance of Education Service Agencies that provide locally defined and accessible professional development, educational services and technical services to address the statewide high priority initiatives. Phase 3 of Race to the Top grants support five Regional Centers in their partnership with the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) and the Governor’s Office of Education Innovation.
