The Centers for Disease Control encourages using a coordinated approach to school health programs to create and support a health promoting school environment. This year participants will learn how to engage school and community members on school health advisory councils, affect policies that support a healthy learning environment, along with many skills. Agenda topics to include newly revised 2009 State Health and Physical Education Standards, Creating a Healthy School Environment, positive discipline techniques, academic achievement success, local implementation strategies, Youth Development, School Based Clinics, PTA involvement in CSH, Staff Wellness, and more. Special guests include Dr. Patrick Cooper, Ed.D, CEO of the Early Childhood and Family Learning Foundation in New Orleans, LA and Mr. Byron Garrett National PTA , CEO.
