Area Eligible
- An area eligible site is one that is located in the attendance area of a school in which at least 50% of the enrolled students have been determined as eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Area eligible sites are reimbursed at the free rate for snacks served regardless of each individual child’s eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals.
- Non-Area Eligible
- Non-area eligible sites will be reimbursed at the free, reduced-price or paid rate, depending on each child’s eligibility for free or reduced-price meals.
For current sponsors, free and reduced-price data is maintained by ADE for each site based on March of the preceding school year’s data to determine whether the site is area eligible.
