Join the K-12 Academic Standard group for free Webinar Trainings. These Trainings will support the implementation of Arizona’s Common Core Standards. All you need is a computer or a device with Internet access to participate in the Training. Please be sure to save your seat in the Webinar by using the registration links provided below. This Webinar will highlight the updates of Arizona’s Common Core Standards, Mathematics Grades 9th – 12th, (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Mathematics I-III). The revised course boundaries (based on the Model Content Frameworks) will be discussed.

In this one hour webinar participants will have the opportunity to sort text dependent questions, become familiar with the progression of text-dependent questions, observe a model of text dependent questions and be given a guide to creating quality text-dependent questions. Participants will also have time to create some questions using the guide.

Writing from Sources explains why we need to emphasize the use of evidence to inform or make logical arguments. While students are familiar with the personal narrative, using evidence to support claims or opinions may be a challenge. Showing students how to do this effectively is also a challenge. This Webinar gives some ideas of how to do it.

This one hour Webinar is intended for Teachers, Trainers, Coaches, Specialists and provides a brief history and connection between Close Reading and the Arizona Common Core Standards.

Participants will be introduced to the concept of productive struggle, and the Close Reading Routine for teachers and students. There will be a short simulation of a close reading lesson.

An introduction to the EQuIP Rubric (Educators Evaluating Quality Instructional Products.) The Tri-State Collaborative (comprised of educational leaders from Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island) developed criterion-based rubrics and review processes to evaluate the quality of lessons and units intended to address the Common Core State Standards for ELA/Literacy and Mathematics. The purpose of this Webinar is to introduce the rubric and its purposes: to provide clear, descriptive criteria for common core lessons/ units, to provide meaningful, constructive feedback to developers of lessons/units, identify lessons that can serve as models, and to provide a protocol for collegial review.

In this one hour web-in-hour overview of text complexity, participants will examine the three components of text complexity; The Quantitative Measures, Qualitative Measures and the Reader and Task Considerations. Participants will work with the PARCC Text Analysis Worksheet and begin to understand the criteria and descriptors for determining if text is Readily Accessible, Moderately Complex or Very Complex. Participants will also learn some scaffolds for assisting readers as they begin to read more complex texts.

The intended audience is Teachers, Coaches, and Specialists. It would be helpful to attend this Webinar with a partner to facilitate discussion.
