Adult Education Classes

Adult Basic Education (ABE)
For people 16 and older who need to improve their basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills. Class options include both face-to-face and Distance Learning Classes.

GED Preparation and Adult Secondary Education (ASE) Classes
For people 16 and older who want to prepare for the GED Test, and/or prepare to enter college or the workforce. Class options include both face-to-face and Distance Learning Classes.

English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA) and Civics Classes
For people 16 and older who want to improve their English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

AZ Ranks 4th in the Nation!

Arizona Adult Education ranks 4th in the nation in Educational Gains for the second year in a row, with 61% of Arizona’s adult learners achieving an Educational Gain in PY2010-2011. An Educational Gain represents a 2.5 academic grade level increase as measured by pre-/post- standardized assessments. The national average for adult learner Educational Gains was 42%. Data provided by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE).

2012 Arizona Adult Literacy Week Panel of Judges

We are pleased to announce the Panel of Judges for the 2012 Arizona Adult Literacy Week contest. The judges will review all entries submitted by Arizona’s adult learners to determine awards and special recognition.

The Adult Literacy Week Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, 10:30 AM – 12:00 noon at the Carnegie Center in downtown Phoenix. For more information contact Jeannie LaVelle at (602) 364-2709.
