Celebrating School Nurses!

  • Mon, May 10 2021

As we wrap up our recognition of school nurses, our entire team at the Arizona Department of Education would like to thank school nurses for not only choosing to work in our schools but for continuing to show up. Each school with a school nurse has access to a community health leader who makes a difference in the outcomes of students and families.

Our fourth and final nurse is Jennifer Schmidt, Fort Mojave Elementary School District Nurse.

Nurses have a lot of options when deciding where to work. How did you choose to work for a local school?

I have always wanted to be a school nurse. My kids attended this school before I applied for this position, so I knew it was a great school and knew I wanted to work for them.

What motivates you to make a difference for your students and community?

What motivates me to make a difference for our students and community is seeing the kids happy and cared for.

What is one thing you’d like the community to know about school nurses?

One thing that I would like the community to know about school nurses is how much we care about the students. We all work hard at providing the best care for each student and attending to their health needs.
