Show Low Unified District

SLUSD understands the importance of providing education and support to the whole child. We believe in helping to provide students with the tools they need to have security in their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. SLUSD will be providing additional support and resources to close the gap in learning that has resulted due to COVID-19 closures and distance-learning. Resources and supplies, otherwise not obtainable through current funding, will be used to provide additional materials for interventions.
SLUSD understands the need for additional support for social/emotional learning. Priority has been given to schools to provide support in SEL and provide funding to hire additional mental health specialists and behavioral interventionists. Training staff in SEL is a top need and is being addressed with in-person training in Second Step and online webinars. All students, including, but not limited to students facing homelessness, in foster care, low-income households, EL, SpEd, and minority students, will use a Universal Screener for SEL. This program will help administrators and teachers to track students who are facing struggles which are mental and emotional needs.
