Join us for Part One of Two of the Arizona History Series! Attendance on both days is not mandatory so come both or either day.
Arizona History Session #3: A Frontier to Inquiry and Research (Grades 3-12)
This collaborative session will focus on evidence-based practices to incorporate inquiry and research into the classroom. Using the model from National History Day and the Arizona Historical Society, educators will work with the content learned through sessions one and two to design inquiry-based lessons and projects that can be implemented in the classroom. This is also the opportunity to dive into the standards, work with the resources presented in previous sessions, and have discussions with other Arizona educators. Held in the Arizona Heritage Center, the place-based session will extend into the afternoon, allowing educators to explore the exhibits.
Arizona History Session #4: Exploring the Archives and Heritage Center
This final session of the inaugural Arizona History Series is the definition of cool history! Educators will have the opportunity to explore the Arizona Historical Society Archives and view Arizona and western-specific primary sources. Having access to these sources will allow educators to expand on their prior learnings as well as inspire new ways to teach about the diverse history here in Arizona. As educators rotate through the archives and the center, they can collaborate and share ideas to use in the classroom.
Information on lunch to come soon!
