Training on the most common co-morbid conditions after brain injury or neuro-impairment.

Prerequisite Required: Attendance at TBI 100 or TBI 101. If you have any questions regarding pre-req's please contact Tiffany Wilkinson at [email protected].

This co-taught training is focused on co-morbid conditions and issues that occur after brain injury. The virtual training includes advanced information on acquired brain injuries and how to utilize an understanding of (a) neurodevelopment AND (b) brain-behavior relationships in order to identify and effectively impact students in the classroom and in the community. There is special emphasis on adolescent brain development, the role of the changing brain in transition and exposing myths related to brain-based behaviors; mental health issues including medication management; and identification of depression and suicide prevention strategies. The options of 504 Plans under the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Transition Plans under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and, services into adulthood under the Americans with Disabilities Act will be covered.

These sessions are taught by Dr. Sue Wolf and various licensed therapists from around Arizona who are trained in brain injury and related issues. With a live, teleconference format these sessions will have open discussion opportunities ("shout outs") to help keep it interactive in a virtual format. The adult education format is lecture, group think & share, presentation, and resource review.

All materials are provided for this course including PPT handouts, activity sheets and resources.

This virtual training has been split into FIVE (5) days and each day is a 90-minute segment. You will need to attend ALL FIVE DAYS of training to get a spot in this course.
