The School Support and Improvement (SSI) Unit, in partnership with Project AWARE, is proud to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid virtual learning opportunities with a live facilitator. Youth Mentor Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an interactive learning session that is approximately six (6) hours from 9:00 AM- 3:00 PM and requires approximately two (2) hours of pre-course work. Cameras are required to stay on throughout the training.
Any local education agency (LEA) personnel who engage with students ages 12-18 can take YMHFA which satisfies ARS 15-120, also known as the Mitch Warnock Act, that requires all school staff who interact with students in grades six (6) through 12 must receive suicide prevention training at least once every three (3) years. This opportunity is FREE for educators in the state.
Visit Support & Improvement: Professional Learning page or email [email protected] for more details and information.
