For our last Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month blog, we would like to thank readers for learning more about the history of the AAPI community in Arizona and current AAPI leaders who are shaping the future of our state.
The AAPI COVID-19 Project is a collective research project examining the ongoing COVID-19 crisis as it shapes the lives of Asians, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in the United States. Our project explores multiple layers of harm connected to the pandemic — the virus itself and the intensification of racism and xenophobia that they have endured in its wake.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice is a national affiliation of five leading organizations advocating for the civil and human rights of Asian Americans and other underserved communities to promote a fair and equitable society for all. To achieve our mission, we work together—as equal and independent partners under one name, speaking with one unified and powerful voice—to promote justice, empower our communities, bring local and national constituents together, and strengthen our multi-racial democracy.
Library of Congress presents "The Art of the Memoir", a conversation with poet Cathy Park Hong (“Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning”) and novelist Wayétu Moore (“The Dragons, the Giant, the Women”), both nominees for the 2020 National Book Critics Circle Award in Autobiography, who will discuss how their memoirs give voice to history and speak to the present moment. This series is part of National Book Festival Presents, a year-round series that features high-caliber authors, their books, and corresponding Library treasures.
This presentation will premiere on both Facebook and YouTube. The presentation will be available for viewing afterward at those sites and in the Library's Event Videos collection.
