Foster Care Art

The “Awareness Through Art” K-6th Grade Student Artwork Foster Care Awareness Showcase is a visual/audio arts showcase for K-6th grade students from around the State of Arizona. Students participate in the showcase by submitting an original work of art designed around the theme:

Hope, Strength, Resilience, & Learning

The nearly 10,000 school age foster children in Arizona use hope, strength, resilience, and learning on a daily basis. With the support of their teachers and loved ones, K-6th grade students will create an original piece of artwork that depicts at least two words from the theme. All visual & audio media – including tapestry, spoken word, dance, song, prose, sculpture, paintings and drawings, collage, photography, and mixed media artworks – are eligible for Entry. The entrant must also supply a paragraph describing how their artwork encapsulates the words that they chose. Entries will be displayed at various Arizona Department of Education buildings. Entries may also be featured on ADE print and Web publications. The showcase is open to all Arizona K-6th grade students.
