Teachrock is delighted to share these truly outstanding free resources with you! TeachRock empowers teachers and engages students by using popular music to create interdisciplinary, culturally responsive educational materials for all 21st Century Classrooms.
Launched by Little Steven Van Zandt and the Founders Board of Bono, Jackson Browne, Martin Scorsese, and Bruce Springsteen, the Rock and Roll Forever Foundation’s free TeachRock curriculum supports teachers of all subjects in keeping the arts in the DNA of every school system while engaging students and improving academic outcomes.
In addition to offering over 200 free Classroom Lessons for K-12 teachers, TeachRock provides essential support to educators, students, and families through newly developed Distance Learning Lessons. TeachRock's Distance Learning Resources promote creativity and connection in a student-facing format, which can be shared with students for independent learning or taught in a virtual classroom setting.
TeachRock has recently added a new project called LifeSongs, which is appropriate for students of all ages. LifeSongs connects students to an elderly family member or neighbor through music, with a focus on musical memories. Students interview a loved one or neighbor, then create a mini-documentary highlighting the music of their childhood, teenage years, and adulthood. This stand-alone project includes TeachRock Lessons and a Life Songs Activity Guide, which supports students through each step of this long term project, including some fun post-production projects. Families love this project, which promotes meaningful connections and creativity, as well as a greater understanding of the importance that music plays in all of our lives.
