State Seals of Proficiency: Call for Student Designs
The Arizona Department of Education is seeking designers to create the Seal of Biliteracy, the Seal of Civics Literacy, and the Seal of Personal Finance. The selected designs will be affixed to the diplomas of all graduates who meet the minimum requirements for these seals for many years to come!
Who is eligible to participate?
Public Arizona district or charter high school students in grades 9-12
Timeline:
• Applications due Friday December 20th by 5pm.
• Winning design will be unveiled in March during Youth Arts Month.
To Apply:
Each school may submit the online application and upload the attached design template. Each student entry will require a separate application. Designs must be created and uploaded using the attached design template.
Tips:
• Keep it simple! Lots of detail will NOT show up on the seal.
• Utilize positive and negative space, line drawings, and/or silhouettes.
• Only use two colors, preferably black and white
• Stick to the theme of the seal:
Seal of Biliteracy - The Arizona Seal of Biliteracy Program recognizes high school students who achieve proficiency in English plus at least one additional language. Possible seal designs could include images of flags, maps, people speaking, Arizona etc.
Seal of Civics Literacy - The Arizona Seal of Civics Literacy program recognizes high school students who achieve a high level of proficiency in Civics. Possible seal designs could include images of the constitution, judicial images, JROTC, scouts, voting, etc.
Seal of Personal Finance - The Arizona Seal of Personal Finance program recognizes high school students who achieve a high level of proficiency in Personal Finance. Possible seal designs could include images of money, calculators, banks, graphs etc.
