Arizona Dance Education Organization (AzDEO) Announces the Awardees for its
2020-21 Dance Education Advocacy Student Essay Contest
AzDEO is pleased to announce the awardees for our 2020-21 Dance Education Advocacy Student Essay Contest.
Division 2 (Grades 10-12)
- Isabella Figueroa, a 12th grader at Perry High School in Gilbert, was awarded 1st place studying under Rebecca Miller.
- Gabrielle Schibi, a 11th grader at Perry High School in Chandler, was awarded 2nd place also studying under Rebecca Miller.
Division 1 (Grades 7-9)
- Caroline Alexander, a 9th grader at Perry High School, studying under Rebecca Miller, was awarded 1st place.
- Almaze Lee, a student at Classic Image Dance, was awarded 2nd place.
Awardee Information
Isabella Figueroa is a senior at Perry High School and a 3rd year Advanced Dancer.
Gabrielle Schibi is a junior at Perry High School and a 1st year Advanced Dancer.
Caroline Alexander is a Freshman in Perry High School’s Advanced Dance program, and also a dancer for Artistic Motion Dance in Gilbert. She hopes to major in journalism in college.
Almaze Lee writes: "Hello, my name is Almaze Lee. I am 15 years old and I was born in Haiti. I have a younger sister who's nine, a supportive mother and a loving father. My three main hobbies are dancing, baking, and exercising. An interesting fact about myself is that I am quadrilingual. I speak English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. My dream is to become a language translator for the United Nations and dance in the Nutcracker."
