ESS Discipline Data Collection (DDC) is an initiative to improve the collection, use, and reporting of safety and discipline incident data for use in IDEA data reporting. Discipline data is extracted to pre-populate data within the SEDD application (coming soon) for PEAs to validate prior to submission.
Outside of special education discipline reporting, there is currently no other unit that uses discipline data for reporting purposes. This means that the only information that is required to be submitted into ESS DDC are discipline incidents for students with disabilities. Specifically, incidents which lead to the removal of the child from the educational environment (suspension, expulsion, etc.)
This application is not used to support general education discipline data. Any questions related to that information should be forwarded to the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) as they primarily oversee that data collection. The application will no longer allow non-special education information to be submitted.
